Synopsis

Stephen King's "Cell" plunges humanity into a terrifying second Dark Age with the sudden, catastrophic phenomenon known as "The Pulse." Transmitted via every active cell phone worldwide, this inexplicable signal instantly transforms users into mindless, bloodthirsty creatures, dubbed "phoners." Boston artist Clayton Riddell witnesses society's immediate collapse, narrowly escaping the initial pandemonium. His sole driving purpose becomes reaching his estranged young son, Johnny, before the boy activates his own cell phone, inevitably falling victim to The Pulse. As Clay journeys through a landscape shattered by violence and fear, he aligns with a small band of survivors—including Tom McCourt and Alice Maxwell—each grappling with their own losses and the horrifying new reality. Their quest for safety evolves into a desperate struggle against the increasingly organized and evolving phoners, who are not only feral but also beginning to develop a disturbing collective consciousness. "Cell" is a relentless, visceral nightmare that explores the fragility of civilization and the primal instinct to protect one's loved ones in a world where technology has become humanity's most insidious enemy.

Critical Reception
