Synopsis

Hercule Poirot, on a seemingly tranquil holiday in Cornwall, finds his vacation abruptly interrupted by the enigmatic Nick Buckley, a spirited young woman who has narrowly escaped a string of alarming 'accidents.' From a falling painting to a jammed car brake and a miraculously deflected bullet, it becomes chillingly clear to the astute Belgian detective that these are no mere coincidences; someone is deliberately attempting to take Nick's life. Aided by his faithful companion Captain Hastings, Poirot delves into the seemingly idyllic world of End House, uncovering a tangled web of family secrets, disputed inheritances, and hidden motives. Even relocating Nick to a nursing home fails to deter the unseen assailant, forcing Poirot to employ his legendary 'little grey cells' and a carefully orchestrated ruse to expose a cunning and ruthless killer, whose identity proves to be as shocking as their meticulously planned acts of peril.

Critical Reception

"One of Agatha Christie's most ingenious early Poirot mysteries, 'Peril at End House' is a masterclass in misdirection and psychological suspense, solidifying her reputation as the 'Queen of Crime'."
