Synopsis

In the sweltering heat of a Quebec summer, Chief Inspector Armand Gamache finds himself not on vacation, but embroiled in a chilling murder investigation at the luxurious Manoir Bellechasse. The Finney family, a dysfunctional and wealthy clan, has gathered to commemorate their late patriarch, but the occasion quickly devolves into a cauldron of long-held resentments and bitter rivalries. As the oppressive heat gives way to a violent storm, a body is discovered, transforming the elegant hotel into a locked-room mystery. Gamache, a guest himself, is now surrounded by suspects, each harboring secrets and motives. With the Manoir cut off from the outside world, the killer is trapped within its walls, creating a dangerous and claustrophobic atmosphere. Gamache must navigate the intricate web of family dynamics and the rising tension before the cornered predator strikes again, exposing the dark undercurrents beneath the polished facade of the Finney family.
