The Beautiful Mystery

Deep within the tranquil wilderness of Quebec lies Saint-Gilbert-Entre-les-Loups, a secluded monastery housing two dozen cloistered monks, world-renowned for their ethereal Gregorian chants. Their serene existence is shattered when the choir's director, Frère Mathieu, is brutally murdered. Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of the Sûreté du Québec is called to investigate this impossible crime within walls that have, until now, kept the world out. As Gamache and his team delve into the monastery's sacred rituals and ancient grudges, they discover that even men of God harbor dark secrets and simmering resentments.
