Synopsis

Centuries have passed since the Tripods descended, enslaving humanity and erasing all memory of life before their rule. Now, humans live in scattered, agrarian communities, kept docile and obedient by mind-controlling 'Caps' implanted during their teenage years. For twelve-year-old Will Parker, the ominous day of his Capping is fast approaching, an inescapable rite of passage that promises to steal his free will and independent thought. However, a fateful encounter with a mysterious 'madman' ignites a spark of rebellion and doubt within Will, suggesting that resistance against the alien overlords might still be possible. Inspired by this glimmer of hope, Will embarks on a perilous and clandestine journey, joined by fellow youths, to the fabled White Mountains—a rumored sanctuary beyond the Tripods' control. This epic tale chronicles their desperate quest for freedom, unraveling the mysteries of their world and confronting the terrifying reality of their alien masters.
