Synopsis

On a chaotic New Year's Eve in Hollywood, LAPD Detective Renée Ballard finds herself amidst the usual celebratory gunfire. But this year, tragedy strikes closer to home when a hardworking auto shop owner is fatally shot during a crowded street party. Initial reports suggest a stray bullet, but Ballard quickly deduces that this was no accident. Her investigation into the deadly projectile leads her to an unsettling discovery: a striking resemblance to an unsolved murder from years past, a case once handled by the legendary Detective Harry Bosch. As Ballard and Bosch team up once more, they delve into the dark hours of both past and present, connecting two seemingly disparate crimes. Their partnership, however, puts them in the crosshairs of a cunning killer who has lain dormant for years, and who now knows they are closing in, threatening to turn them into targets themselves.
