Synopsis

Isolde Ophelia Goodnight, daughter of a renowned author, grew up immersed in the romantic ideals of fairy tales, firmly believing her own love story awaited. Yet, as she matured, Izzy systematically disproved every storybook trope—no charming prince, no dashing highwayman, no miraculous transformation from 'ugly duckling.' Now twenty-six, impoverished, and never even kissed, Izzy's romantic illusions have crumbled, replaced by a desperate need for a roof over her head. Her only inheritance is a dilapidated castle in the care of the reclusive and notoriously ill-tempered Duke of Ashbury, Ransom. Ransom, scarred and blinded from a childhood accident, has withdrawn from society, his bitterness a stark contrast to Izzy's fading optimism. What begins as a practical arrangement for Izzy to restore her inheritance and Ransom to escape his self-imposed isolation soon blossoms into an unexpected, witty, and deeply emotional battle of wills and hearts. Can two disillusioned souls find their own brand of romance amidst crumbling stones and shattered dreams, proving that true love often defies all expectations?

Critical Reception
