Desperate Duchesses

Set in Spring 1783, "Desperate Duchesses" introduces Jemma, Duchess of Beaumont, newly returned from Paris and eager to ignite London High Society with a series of scandalous soirees and a debauched Grand Ball, primarily to vex her estranged husband. Finding this endeavor less challenging than anticipated, Jemma seizes an opportunity when her country cousin, Lady Roberta St. Giles, seeks help in seducing the elusive Duke of Villiers into marriage. Jemma meticulously orchestrates Roberta's transformation into London's most desirable woman. Her scheme, however, takes an unexpected turn when she lures Villiers to her home under the pretense of a chess match. Villiers, captivated not by Roberta but by Jemma's audacious spirit, redirects his attention entirely to the Duchess.
