Synopsis

When Thomas awakens in a rising metal box, his memory is a blank slate, save for his first name. He emerges into the Glade, a vast, open area surrounded by colossal stone walls, populated entirely by teenage boys. They call themselves Gladers, and their existence revolves around surviving within this bizarre, isolated community and, more importantly, solving the enigma of the perpetually shifting, monstrous Maze that surrounds them. Every morning, the walls open, allowing designated 'Runners' to map the labyrinth, searching for an escape. Every night, the doors close, protecting them from the deadly Grievers that roam the Maze after dark. Thomas, immediately drawn to the mysteries of the Maze, feels an inexplicable pull to become a Runner. His arrival, coupled with the unexpected appearance of the first girl, Teresa, triggers a series of unprecedented events that threaten the Gladers' fragile order and reveals the terrifying truth behind their confinement and the sinister organization known as WICKED.
