Synopsis

Set in a dystopian future within the nation of Panem, built on the ruins of North America, 'The Hunger Games' introduces us to a society rigidly divided into a wealthy Capitol and twelve impoverished surrounding districts. As a brutal reminder of a past rebellion, each year two tributes, one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18, are chosen from each district to participate in the Hunger Games: a televised fight to the death in a wilderness arena. When sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen's younger sister, Prim, is chosen as the female tribute for District 12, Katniss volunteers to take her place, defying the odds and the expectations of a system designed to crush hope. Thrown into a terrifying game of survival against well-trained tributes, Katniss must rely on her sharp instincts, hunting skills, and an unexpected alliance to navigate the deadly arena and the manipulative world of the Games, all while grappling with the moral complexities of violence, sacrifice, and burgeoning rebellion.
