Synopsis

When Mouse is tasked with clearing out her recently deceased hoarder grandmother's isolated house in rural North Carolina, she anticipates a monumental, if mundane, undertaking. However, the sheer volume of accumulated junk is only the first layer of dread. Amidst the detritus, she unearths her eccentric step-grandfather's journal, filled with increasingly unhinged, rambling accounts of strange entities and unsettling local folklore. What begins as a bizarre read soon escalates into a chilling reality when Mouse, accompanied only by her loyal dog Bongo, starts to encounter the terrifying, inhuman 'things' described in the journal. Isolated and increasingly unnerved, she finds herself drawn into a nightmarish world where ancient, malevolent entities lurk just beyond perception, their presence signaled by twisted natural formations and the unsettling feeling of being watched. Mouse must confront these impossible horrors, unraveling the dark history of the property before she and Bongo become the next victims of the twisted ones.
