Synopsis

In C. J. Box's 'Long Range,' Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett finds himself entangled in a chilling investigation when an almost impossible long-range shot narrowly misses a local judge but severely wounds his wife. As the community of Twelve Sleep County reels, all law enforcement, including Joe, is mobilized to track the elusive shooter. The immediate suspect, inevitably, is Joe's enigmatic friend, ex-special forces operative Nate Romanowski, known for his sharpshooting prowess. Convinced of Nate's innocence, Joe races against time to uncover the true perpetrator, navigating a complex web of motives and secrets. Simultaneously, a horrific grizzly attack in an adjacent county pulls Joe into a separate, equally perplexing mystery, where the victim's account doesn't align with the grim reality. Beset by man-made threats and the raw, untamed forces of nature, Joe must rely on his instincts and courage to protect his loved ones and solve an impossible crime that threatens to unravel the fabric of his world.
