Synopsis

Stella Grant is a meticulously organized seventeen-year-old, whose life is governed by the stringent rules of cystic fibrosis. Her greatest desire is to receive a lung transplant, and every aspect of her existence is geared towards staying healthy and maintaining the critical "six-foot rule" – the distance she must keep from other CF patients to prevent deadly cross-infection. Her carefully controlled world is upended when she meets Will Newman, a charmingly rebellious fellow CF patient who views his condition with a fatalistic outlook, having little hope for experimental treatments. Despite their opposing views on life and illness, an undeniable connection forms between Stella and Will. As their love blossoms, the six-foot barrier separating them becomes an agonizing torment. They dare to defy the rules, reclaiming one foot and establishing their own "five feet apart" rule, challenging both their medical restrictions and the very fragility of their lives. Their poignant romance forces them to confront heart-wrenching choices between love and survival, hope and despair, and the profound cost of physical closeness when every breath is a fight for tomorrow. It's a powerful narrative about finding intimacy and connection in the face of insurmountable odds.
