Synopsis

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail, initially destined for a quiet life in the Scribe Quadrant, is thrust into the brutal and elite world of Basgiath War College by her formidable mother, General Sorrengail. Her path now is to become one of Navarre's coveted dragon riders, a perilous feat for someone with her small stature and brittle body, as dragons incinerate those deemed too fragile to bond. Survival is a daily struggle, not only against the deadly training and the scarcity of bondable dragons but also against fellow cadets, many of whom would kill her to improve their own chances or simply out of resentment for her mother. Chief among her adversaries is Xaden Riorson, a powerful wingleader whose family suffered at the General's hands. As the war outside escalates and protective wards fail, Violet uncovers a sinister secret held by the college's leadership. In a world where the only exits are graduation or death, Violet must rely on her wits, navigate treacherous alliances, and confront growing affections to survive and expose the truth.
