The Corinthian

Sir Richard Wyndham, a prominent dandy and Corinthian of Regency London, finds himself in a quandary: he must marry his cousin to secure his family's estate, a prospect he views with utter dismay. Seeking a temporary escape from his familial obligations and a particularly dreadful betrothal dinner, he encounters a spirited young woman, Penelope, attempting a dramatic escape from her own home in disguise. Mistaking her for a boy, and spurred by a combination of drink and an innate desire for adventure, Richard impulsively offers his assistance. Penelope, an heiress fleeing an unwanted arranged marriage, readily accepts.
