Synopsis

After a brief six-month hiatus in bustling London, the indomitable Agatha Raisin makes her much-anticipated return to the tranquil, yet often surprisingly deadly, Cotswolds. Her hopes for rekindling a romance with her dashing neighbor, James Lacey, are soon overshadowed when Agatha's other, more insistent passion takes hold: the thrill of solving a good murder. A local hiker, Jessica Tartinck, is found dead in a remote field, her demise sending ripples through the seemingly placid village of Dembley. Tartinck, known for her steadfast insistence on the public's right to roam across private lands, had ruffled many a wealthy landowner's feathers. Now, with James reluctantly by her side, Agatha dives headfirst into the investigation. As they delve deeper, a surprising number of Dembley's residents, particularly within Jessica's hiking club, appear to harbor motives and opportunities for murder. The trail of the killer proves as elusive as Agatha's romantic prospects, demanding every ounce of her wit and perseverance. In a world where dangers lurk behind picturesque landscapes, Agatha and James must tread carefully, lest they lose more than just their way on the winding paths of Dembley.
