Synopsis

Newly transferred to a precinct in Tokyo's historic Nihonbashi district, veteran Detective Kyochiro Kaga finds himself immediately plunged into a perplexing murder investigation. A woman has been brutally killed, and as Kaga begins to delve into her life, he uncovers a labyrinth of secrets, motives, and connections within the seemingly tranquil business community. Unlike a typical procedural, Kaga’s method involves meticulously peeling back the layers of everyday life in Nihonbashi, revealing the hidden truths of shopkeepers, artisans, and residents. Each encounter, every seemingly minor detail, gradually builds a richer portrait of the victim and her entangled relationships. The case evolves into a complex puzzle where nearly everyone living or working in the area appears to harbor a potential reason for the crime. Kaga, known for his incisive yet empathetic approach, must navigate the delicate social fabric of the neighborhood, piecing together fragments from the victim's past, family history, and final days to expose the truth and bring the elusive killer to justice.
