Synopsis

Haunted by a failing marriage and a sense of professional stagnation, Dick Young seeks refuge at a remote house in Cornwall. There, his eccentric scientist friend, Professor Magnus Lane, introduces him to an experimental drug capable of transporting the user's consciousness directly into the fourteenth century. Dick finds himself an invisible, silent observer in the manor of Tywardreath, witnessing the lives, loves, and brutal betrayals of its medieval inhabitants, particularly the powerful and enigmatic Sir Henry Champerhoune. As Dick delves deeper into this past world, filled with intrigue, adultery, and murder, the vibrant reality of medieval Cornwall becomes overwhelmingly alluring. He grows increasingly addicted to the drug and the escape it offers, withdrawing from his modern life and relationships. The lines between past and present blur dangerously, and Dick's attempts to subtly influence history lead to terrifying consequences that jeopardize his sanity, his life, and the very fabric of his reality.
