In the blink of an eye, everyone over the age of 15 in the fictional California town of Perdido Beach vanishes, leaving behind a terrifying vacuum of power and order. An invisible, impenetrable barrier, later dubbed the FAYZ (Fallout Alley Youth Zone), traps the remaining children and teenagers, forcing them to fend for themselves in a world without adults. As food supplies dwindle, social structures crumble, and a new, brutal hierarchy emerges among the stranded youngsters. To complicate matters, some children begin to develop inexplicable, and often dangerous, superpowers. Sam Temple, an ordinary teenager thrust into an unwilling leadership role, finds himself battling not only starvation, despair, and budding monstrous predators, but also the manipulative Caine Soren, his estranged twin brother, whose dark charisma and ruthless ambition threaten to plunge the FAYZ into full-blown anarchy. "Gone" is a gripping, often disturbing exploration of human nature under extreme duress, where innocence is swiftly lost, and the lines between good and evil blur in a desperate fight for survival.
