Synopsis

In the concluding chapter of William Gibson's acclaimed 'Blue Ant' trilogy, "Zero History" plunges readers back into the shadowy world of global marketing impresario Hubertus Bigend. Broke and adrift, former rock-star-turned-journalist Hollis Henry is reluctantly drawn back into Bigend's orbit, tasked with locating the elusive designer of a mysterious brand of 'combat-wear' jeans. Meanwhile, Milgrim, Bigend's rehabilitated addict and linguistic savant, finds himself indispensable for his uncanny ability to blend in and interpret complex cultural signals. Garreth, a fixer with deep connections, is called upon to leverage favors among the powerful. These disparate lives converge as Bigend, usually the orchestrator, discovers he has been outmaneuvered by a cabal of arms dealers so sophisticated and shadowy they make his own operations look provincial. As the search for the designer unveils layers of industrial espionage, military-grade fashion, and a global conspiracy threatening to unravel the very fabric of information, "Zero History" masterfully explores themes of anonymity, digital identity, and the pervasive, often invisible, forces shaping our present and future.

Critical Reception

"Praised as Gibson's most refined and trenchant work to date, "Zero History" stands as a triumph of contemporary science fiction, seamlessly blending social commentary with a gripping adventure narrative."
