Synopsis

Forensic archaeologist Dr. Ruth Galloway is drawn into a chilling new mystery when coastal erosion on the windswept North Norfolk coast unearths a grim discovery: six bodies buried beneath a cliff. The remains appear ancient, but tests reveal they have lain preserved in the sand for approximately sixty years, their secrets reaching back to the tumultuous era of the Second World War. As Ruth works to determine how and why these individuals met their end, she once again finds herself collaborating with DCI Harry Nelson. Their investigation peels back layers of local history, revealing that the serene Norfolk landscape holds darker, forgotten truths about a time when Britain braced for invasion. The pursuit of answers leads them into a web of wartime secrets and desperate measures, forcing Ruth to confront the lengths to which some will go to keep the past buried, challenging everything she thought she knew about the region's history.
