Synopsis

In Robin Hobb's 'Fool's Quest,' the harrowing journey of FitzChivalry Farseer and his enigmatic companion, the Fool, continues with devastating consequences. Having once reshaped the world by rekindling dragon magic and securing the Farseer succession, Fitz and the Fool now face a new, insidious threat. The Fool lies near death, brutally maimed by mysterious pale-skinned antagonists whose grand designs for global domination are chillingly linked to the unique powers shared between the Fool and Fitz's own daughter. Distracted by the Fool's grave condition and unwillingly entangled in the treacherous politics of the royal court, Fitz momentarily lowers his guard. In a horrific turn of events, his world shatters as his beloved daughter is abducted, intended to be used as a weapon, much like the Fool before her. Driven by an ancient magic coursing through his veins and the rekindled skills of a royal assassin, FitzChivalry Farseer emerges from his quiet life, a man with nothing left to lose, ready to confront enemies and allies alike with a dangerous, single-minded vengeance.
