Synopsis

In a vibrant, steampunk-infused Cairo of 1912, Agent Fatma el-Sha'arawi of the Ministry of Alchemy, Enchantments and Supernatural Entities is no stranger to the extraordinary, having famously saved the universe just months prior. Her latest assignment plunges her into a perplexing and dangerous mystery: the brutal slaughter of a secret brotherhood devoted to Al-Jahiz, the enigmatic figure who, fifty years ago, tore open the veil between the mundane and magical realms before vanishing without a trace. The alleged perpetrator claims to be Al-Jahiz himself, returned to denounce modern society's injustices and ignite chaos with his formidable magical prowess. As unrest escalates across Cairo, threatening to spill onto the global stage, Fatma, aided by her Ministry colleagues and a haunting figure from her past, must unravel the truth behind this imposter. The stakes are immense: peace for the city, or the terrifying realization that the man claiming to be Al-Jahiz might be exactly who he says he is.
