Synopsis

In the epic conclusion to the Daevabad Trilogy, "The Empire of Gold" plunges the magical kingdom into chaos as Daevabad falls under the iron fist of Banu Manizheh and her resurrected commander, Dara. As their fragile alliance frays amidst a warring populace, Dara grapples with the ghosts of his past and the devastating loss of his people and Nahri, forcing him to confront his darkest truths and seek unlikely alliances. Meanwhile, Nahri and Ali, having narrowly escaped the deadly politics of their homeland, find temporary refuge in Cairo. Yet, peace is fleeting; Nahri is haunted by the fate of those she left behind, while Ali is compelled to return and rescue his city and family. With old enemies resurfacing and the lines between ally and foe blurring, Nahri, Ali, and Dara must face the profound realization that to forge a new world, they might have to fight those they once loved and stand up for those they once wronged.
