Broken Angels

Takeshi Kovacs, the cynical, ex-UN envoy from 'Altered Carbon', returns in 'Broken Angels' having swapped his detective role for that of a mercenary, a 'death-dealer' for the Martian Protectorate on the ravaged planet of Sanction IV. Amidst the brutal suppression of a revolution, Kovacs's true allegiance remains solely with himself, making him susceptible to lucrative, morally ambiguous ventures. When a rogue pilot from his past and a powerful corporate figure offer him a share in a perilous treasure hunt, Kovacs readily goes AWOL. He assembles a motley crew of resurrected soldiers and cutthroats to pursue the ultimate prize: a legendary alien spacecraft, rumored to hold secrets of unimaginable power from an ancient Martian civilization. Their quest leads them through a massacred city bathed in deadly radiation, facing unleashed nanotechnology and the cunning traps laid by the hyper-advanced Martians. Armed with genetically engineered instincts and an arsenal of weaponry, Kovacs plunges into a high-stakes adventure where death is a temporary inconvenience and the lines between right and wrong are perpetually blurred.
