Xanth is once again in peril as the monstrous Gap Dragon breaks free, wreaking havoc across the land. Compounding the chaos, the powerful forget-spell that once contained the beast is now dissolving into unpredictable ‘forget-whorls,’ leaving amnesia in their wake. Among the unsuspecting victims is the three-year-old Princess Ivy, daughter of King Dor and Queen Irene, now lost and vulnerable in the treacherous southern jungles. With her memories wiped clean by a passing forget-whorl, Ivy wanders deeper into danger, unaware that her innocent path is converging directly with the ravenous Gap Dragon, who seeks its next meal. Meanwhile, Xanth's only hope, Good Magician Humfrey, is rendered utterly helpless – transformed into an baby after an ill-advised dip in the Fountain of Youth. As Queen Irene desperately searches for her missing daughter, hope dwindles with every passing moment. The fate of Xanth, its magical inhabitants, and its innocent princess hangs precariously in the balance. A desperate race against time begins, forcing unlikely heroes to confront the monstrous dragon, find a way to restore Humfrey's wisdom, and rescue Princess Ivy before she becomes the dragon's tragic feast, sealing Xanth's doom.
