Synopsis

On the morning of their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne's clever and beautiful wife, Amy, mysteriously disappears from their North Carthage, Missouri home. As the police investigate, Nick's oddly evasive behavior, coupled with cryptic passages from Amy's diary detailing a troubled marriage and her 'alpha-girl perfectionist' nature, casts him in a suspicious light. The media circus quickly demonizes Nick, portraying him as a potential killer, especially when a series of lies and inappropriate behaviors come to light. However, as the narrative alternates between Nick's present-day account and Amy's past diary entries, a much more intricate and disturbing picture of their relationship, and the events leading up to her disappearance, begins to unravel. 'Gone Girl' delves into the dark underbelly of a seemingly perfect marriage, exploring themes of identity, manipulation, and the dangerous secrets people keep from each other.
