Synopsis

Arch-swindler Moist von Lipwig's career of deception reaches its climax when he's caught and sentenced to hang. However, instead of the gallows, Ankh-Morpork's Patrician, Lord Vetinari, offers him an impossible choice: revive the city's derelict Postal Service or face his original fate. Reluctantly, Moist accepts, finding himself in charge of a crumbling building filled with eccentric, long-suffering employees and mountains of undelivered mail that seems to have a life of its own. To resurrect the postal system from its dusty, forgotten state, Moist must employ all his cunning, charm, and flair for showmanship. He finds an unlikely ally in the formidable, golem-rights activist Adora Belle Dearheart. Their mission is complicated by the looming threat of the Grand Trunk Company, a powerful communications monopoly run by the ruthless Reacher Gilt, who sees the Post Office as an obsolete competitor to be crushed. Moist must navigate corporate espionage, bureaucratic inertia, and a genuinely dangerous secret order to prove that, even in a world of progress, there's still a place for good old-fashioned post.
