Synopsis

In a future Oxford, where time travel is a reality but strictly regulated, history student Kivrin Engle embarks on a clandestine research trip to the year 1320 England. Her mission: to observe medieval life firsthand before the devastating arrival of the Black Death. However, a catastrophic miscalculation by her supervisor, Professor Dunworthy, sends her not to 1320, but directly into the heart of the plague-ravaged year 1348. Stranded and succumbing to illness, Kivrin finds herself thrust into a world of incomprehensible suffering, clinging to life and sanity amidst widespread death and fear. Back in the future, a burgeoning pandemic begins to sweep through Oxford, mirroring the historical catastrophe Kivrin is trapped within, further complicating any rescue attempts. As both past and future societies teeter on the brink of collapse, "Doomsday Book" masterfully intertwines the terror of a forgotten age with the ethical dilemmas of advanced technology, exploring themes of humanity, faith, and the enduring power of compassion in the face of oblivion.

Critical Reception
