Synopsis

Orphaned David Balfour, a young Scottish lad, journeys to his Uncle Ebenezer's estate in search of his inheritance, only to find himself betrayed, kidnapped, and put aboard a ship bound for the American colonies. Following a dramatic shipwreck, David encounters the charismatic and fugitive Jacobite, Alan Breck Stewart. Together, they embark on a perilous and thrilling adventure across the rugged Scottish Highlands, pursued by English Redcoats and implicated in the notorious 'Appin Murder.' Stevenson masterfully weaves a tale of loyalty, betrayal, and survival, set against the turbulent backdrop of 18th-century Scotland after the Jacobite rising of 1745, exploring themes of justice, class, and political intrigue through the eyes of its young protagonist and his complex companion.
