Synopsis

Along the scenic yet ominous Hog's Back ridge in Surrey, a disturbing pattern of disappearances sends shivers through the local community. What begins with several unexplained vanishings escalates dramatically when a respected doctor disappears without a trace. Shortly thereafter, a nurse with whom he was known to be acquainted also vanishes, deepening the mystery and raising the alarm. Scotland Yard's meticulous Inspector Joseph French is called in, and his keen intellect quickly deduces foul play – murder, despite the complete absence of bodies. French faces the daunting task of unraveling a case where traditional evidence is non-existent, forcing him to reconstruct events and motives from the flimsiest of clues. As he delves into the lives of the missing and the secrets of the seemingly tranquil Surrey landscape, French must employ all his powers of deduction and painstaking police work to prove that murder has indeed been committed, and to bring the perpetrator to justice before more lives are lost to the Hog's Back.
