Synopsis

After a near-fatal accident leaves Mark Schluter in a coma, his sister Karin reluctantly returns home to care for him. Upon his awakening, Mark suffers from a rare neurological disorder, Capgras syndrome, leading him to believe that Karin, despite looking and sounding identical, is an impostor. Shattered by her brother's rejection, Karin seeks help from neuroscientist Dr. Gerald Weber, whose investigation into Mark's condition begins to challenge his own understanding of consciousness and self. Meanwhile, Mark, armed with only an enigmatic note from an anonymous witness, embarks on a personal quest to uncover the true events of that fateful night. 'The Echo Maker' masterfully weaves a psychological thriller with a profound exploration of identity, memory, and the fragility of the human mind, leading all three characters towards a life-altering revelation.
