Synopsis

In Ramsey Campbell's chilling masterpiece, "Ancient Images," film historian Sandy Allan finds herself drawn into a terrifying mystery surrounding a long-lost horror film, "Tower of Fear," starring the iconic Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. When a colleague who claimed to have found a copy of the fabled movie dies under inexplicable and terrifying circumstances, Sandy is compelled to investigate. Her quest unearths a dark history not only of the film's production, which was plagued by supernatural events and eerie occurrences, but also of the powerful and secretive Redfield family. Owners of the beloved British food brand Staff o’ Life, the Redfields guard an ancient, sinister secret tied to their ancestral land. As Sandy delves deeper, she discovers the land is protected by uncanny, malevolent guardians and demands a gruesome sacrifice to maintain its fertility. The arrival of a band of unsuspecting New Age travelers, poised to set up camp on the Redfield estate, sets the stage for a horrifying collision with an ancient evil, forcing Sandy to confront the terrifying truth hidden within the 'ancient images' themselves.

Critical Reception
