Complicating matters, a young librarian becomes entangled in the conflict, his safety – and potentially his life – hanging in the balance. Irene and Kai must navigate a complex web of dragon politics, outsmart local mobsters, evade security forces, and locate the missing book before a full-blown war erupts between the factions. Failure is not an option; not only could it trigger a catastrophic conflict, but it would also jeopardize Irene's career and her very existence.
