Synopsis

A seemingly idyllic Mexican vacation takes a nightmarish turn for four American friends – Jeff, Amy, Eric, and Stacy – when they venture off the beaten path in search of Jeff’s missing brother, an archaeologist who disappeared investigating Mayan ruins. Their journey deep into the jungle leads them to a secluded, vine-covered hill, a site of ancient, forgotten power. Lured by the vibrant red flowers adorning the ruins, the group approaches, only to be confronted by hostile Mayan villagers who forbid them from leaving. As tensions escalate, a terrifying accident traps one of them within the predatory flora. They soon discover the vines are not merely plant life, but a sentient, malevolent entity that preys on their bodies and minds, mimicking sounds and manipulating their deepest fears. Isolated, injured, and facing a relentless, intelligent enemy, the friends must fight not only for survival against an insidious biological horror but also against the creeping paranoia and breakdown of their own humanity.
