Synopsis

In Jeffery Deaver's 'The Skin Collector,' the brilliant quadriplegic forensic criminalist Lincoln Rhyme and his sharp-witted partner Amelia Sachs are plunged into a new and terrifying case stalking the streets of New York. A sadistic serial killer, a talented tattoo artist, is using poison to etch deadly messages onto the skin of his victims, leaving behind intricate, macabre art and cryptic clues. The first victim is a young woman, bearing the chilling inscription 'the second.' As Rhyme and Sachs meticulously process the crime scene, they discover a single, crucial piece of evidence: a scrap of paper that inextricably links this new, diabolical adversary to a nemesis from their past – the infamous Bone Collector. The investigation spirals into a high-stakes psychological chess match, forcing Rhyme and Sachs to delve into the mind of a killer who not only mimics but also taunts them with echoes of their most traumatic case, pushing their deductive skills and emotional resilience to their absolute limits.
