Synopsis

In the affluent, picturesque coastal town of Pirriwee, Australia, the lives of three seemingly disparate women become inextricably linked by the secrets they keep and a shared, dark incident that culminates in murder. Jane, a young single mother new to town, carries the heavy burden of a past trauma. She quickly befriends the vivacious and fiercely loyal Madeline, who battles her own domestic complexities and an ex-husband's new family, and the stunningly beautiful Celeste, whose outwardly perfect life with her wealthy husband conceals a horrifying reality of abuse. A seemingly innocuous incident at kindergarten sets off a chain reaction of playground gossip, parental rivalries, and escalating tensions. As the women navigate their personal demons, the facade of their perfect lives begins to crack, leading to a fateful trivia night where one person ends up dead. The novel deftly explores themes of friendship, domestic violence, parenting, and the corrosive power of lies, all while building suspense towards an unforgettable climax.
