Synopsis

In a near-future Delhi grappling with the stark realities of climate change, social inequality, and pervasive digital influence, "The City Inside" plunges readers into a world where the personal is inextricably linked to the political. Joey, a 'Reality Controller,' navigates the chaotic multimedia livestreams of a rising online celebrity, who also happens to be her college ex. Her demanding job grants her significant cultural sway, yet she struggles with her own desires and the daily grind of crisis management. Meanwhile, Rudra, estranged from his powerful family, ekes out a living in an immigrant neighborhood until his father's death forces him back into the family's orbit. An impulsive job offer from Joey becomes his escape. As their lives intertwine, Joey and Rudra find themselves caught in a web of multiple conspiracies, corporate machinations, and the relentless pressure of surveillance capitalism. With their relationships strained and their integrity tested, they must confront a larger, unfolding picture, each charting their own path to resistance in a world where merely maintaining the status quo feels like an extraordinary feat.
