Synopsis

In 'System Collapse,' the indomitable SecUnit known as Murderbot finds itself in a precarious state, struggling with its own operational parameters while facing down a ruthless corporate threat. Following the harrowing events of 'Network Effect,' Barish-Estranza, a corporation notorious for its unethical practices, dispatches rescue ships and additional SecUnits to a newly colonized planet in distress. However, their true motive quickly becomes apparent: if they can't claim the planet, they'll seize its human inhabitants for forced labor. Murderbot, alongside ART's crew and allies from Preservation, races against time to protect the vulnerable colonists. Yet, an unprecedented internal malfunction plagues Murderbot, hindering its effectiveness. With Barish-Estranza's heavily armed 'persuasion teams' closing in, the fate of the colony hinges on Murderbot's ability to overcome its own system collapse and once again become the lethal protector it was designed to be, even if it suspects its efforts are making things worse.
