Synopsis

In Robert B. Parker's "Trouble in Paradise," Jesse Stone, the Paradise police chief, finds his already complicated life thrown into further disarray by a daring and dangerous plot. Across the bridge from his quiet Massachusetts town lies Stiles Island, an exclusive enclave targeted by career criminal James Macklin. With his devoted girlfriend, Faye, and a crew of ex-cons including the formidable Wilson "Crow" Cromartie, Macklin plans to invade, blow the bridge, and systematically loot the island. Meanwhile, Jesse is juggling multiple romantic entanglements: his ex-wife Jenn is in his jail, he's embarked on a new relationship with Stiles Island realtor Marcy Campbell, and he's still grappling with feelings for attorney Abby Taylor. As Macklin's meticulously planned heist unfolds, both Marcy and Abby are placed in direct peril. Jesse must navigate the escalating violence and protect the women in his life, all while confronting a criminal mastermind whose ruthlessness knows no bounds.
