Synopsis

Set against the opulent backdrop of a meticulously reimagined 8th-century Tang Dynasty China, 'Under Heaven' introduces Shen Tai, the dutiful son of a revered general. For two years, he has undertaken the solemn task of burying the fallen from a brutal battle, a personal act of filial piety. His devotion is unexpectedly rewarded with an unthinkable gift: two hundred and fifty Sardian horses, magnificent and rare creatures whose value is beyond measure. While a single horse could elevate a man, and a handful bestow immense power and invite mortal jealousy, two hundred and fifty is a gift fit for an emperor, and inherently dangerous. This colossal offering compels Tai to travel to its source, forcing him into a world of court intrigue, political machinations, and perilous journeys. As he navigates the treacherous currents of power and honor, Tai must confront the profound implications of this extraordinary legacy, which threatens to either exalt him beyond his wildest dreams or lead him to his doom in a land on the precipice of change.
