Synopsis

Jerusalem Inn" ensnares Scotland Yard's enigmatic Superintendent Richard Jury and his quick-witted, titled associate, Melrose Plant, in a holiday mystery where seasonal warmth gives way to icy dread. The initial clues emerge from two seemingly unrelated and equally brutal murders: one a man found in a grimy London alley, the other a woman slain amidst the serene, snow-laden beauty of the Lake District. As Jury and Plant delve deeper, a cryptic connection emerges, drawing them both to the atmospheric and isolated Jerusalem Inn. Here, amidst a festive yet increasingly tense Christmas season, they discover a cast of characters – guests and locals alike – each with their own guarded pasts and simmering resentments. The confined setting of the inn, cut off by winter's embrace, amplifies the suspense as Jury meticulously pieces together fragments of conversation, hidden clues, and shifting alibis. With the killer lurking among them, the pair must navigate a labyrinth of deceit and suspicion before the holiday spirit is irrevocably shattered by another act of violence.
