Synopsis

In the valley of Polnya, where life unfolds beneath the menacing shadow of the corrupted Wood, Agnieszka lives a simple life, deeply connected to her home, river, and village. For generations, her people have relied on the enigmatic, cold wizard known only as the Dragon to protect them from the malevolent forest, a service for which he extracts a terrible price: one young woman, chosen every ten years, to serve him for a decade. As the next choosing approaches, Agnieszka and her village are certain the Dragon will select Kasia, her beautiful, brave, and graceful best friend – everything Agnieszka believes herself not to be. However, fate takes an unexpected turn when the Dragon arrives, and his gaze falls not upon Kasia, but upon the seemingly ordinary Agnieszka. Thrust into a world of ancient magic, dark secrets, and dangerous power struggles, Agnieszka must learn to navigate her burgeoning, wild magic and confront the true nature of the Wood, the Dragon, and her own destiny, all while battling a deepening corruption that threatens to consume her world.
