Synopsis

Recently demoted and ever the maverick, Inspector Tom Thorne finds himself navigating the murky waters of a new, unsettling case. A series of seemingly unconnected suicides among the elderly in south London raises Thorne's hackles, his instincts screaming that something far more sinister is at play. Dismissed by his former CID colleagues and even his patient girlfriend, Thorne finds himself isolated, with only his loyal friend, pathologist Phil Hendricks, willing to entertain his chilling suspicions of murder. As Thorne delves deeper, he unearths a disturbing link to a controversial cold case from three decades prior, suggesting a meticulously planned, long-game killer. Going rogue, Thorne risks not only his already precarious career but also the lives of those he cares about most. He races against time to expose a deranged and powerful perpetrator who expertly manipulates his vulnerable victims towards a breathtaking, macabre end, challenging the very definition of suicide.
