Synopsis

In Ed McBain's gripping police procedural, "Fuzz," the detectives of the 87th Precinct face a chilling new threat as a mysterious perp begins systematically targeting prominent city officials. What initially appears to be a crank call demanding a paltry five thousand dollars quickly turns deadly when the parks commissioner is brutally murdered after the ransom deadline passes. The terror escalates with the violent assassination of the deputy mayor, leaving the city in a state of panic. With the charismatic young mayor next in the killer's sights, the clock is ticking for the dedicated but beleaguered detectives. They must race against time to unravel the twisted motives of this shrewd and seemingly unstoppable serial assassin before more lives are lost and the city's leadership is completely destabilized. McBain masterfully blends suspense with a dark, sardonic humor as his iconic precinct navigates a case that pushes them to their limits.

Critical Reception

"Praised as a 'triumph' by the Chicago Sun-Times and lauded by the Washington Post as part of 'simply the best police procedurals being written in the United States today,' "Fuzz" stands as a landmark entry in the crime fiction genre."
