Synopsis

In Peter Robinson's compelling crime novel, "Strange Affair," Inspector Alan Banks finds himself embroiled in a deeply personal and dangerous investigation while recovering from a serious injury. His planned recuperation is abruptly shattered when his estranged brother, Roy, vanishes without a trace in London. Driven by a complex mix of sibling duty and simmering resentment, Banks travels to the bustling capital, quickly discovering that Roy’s seemingly prosperous life is built upon a perilous foundation of shady dealings and hidden secrets. As Banks delves deeper into the underbelly of Roy's world, he uncovers a web of deceit, betrayal, and violence that puts his own life at risk. Meanwhile, back in the quiet Yorkshire Dales, a young woman is found brutally murdered, and chillingly, Banks's address is found clutched in her hand. With their colleague unreachable and seemingly implicated, Banks's team in Eastvale must race against time to unravel the mystery of the victim and her connection to their absent DCI, all while the primary suspect is the very man they're sworn to uphold.
