Synopsis

In the seventh volume of Robert Jordan's monumental Wheel of Time series, "A Crown of Swords," the war for humanity's survival intensifies across multiple fronts. Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, having asserted his independence from the White Tower, rallies his growing army of Aiel and loyal followers. He sets his sights on Illian, stronghold of the Forsaken Sammael, in a desperate bid to confront one of the Dark One's most dangerous lieutenants and protect the world from the encroaching Shadow. Meanwhile, in the exotic city of Ebou Dar, Elayne Trakand, Aviendha, and Mat Cauthon are embroiled in a perilous quest to locate the ter'angreal crucial for controlling the world's weather, a device capable of turning the tide against the Dark One's influence. Their mission is complicated by ancient dangers and political intrigue. Simultaneously, Egwene al'Vere, the newly-raised Amyrlin Seat of the rebel Aes Sedai, strives to consolidate power in Salidar, building an army to reclaim Tar Valon and unite the fractured Aes Sedai. Amidst these monumental struggles, a sinister power stirs in the cursed city of Shadar Logoth, threatening to unleash an entirely new form of destruction upon the world, making Rand's burden heavier than ever.
