Synopsis

When Captain Ann Campbell, the beautiful and highly respected daughter of legendary commanding general "Fighting Joe" Campbell, is found brutally murdered on a Fort Hadley firing range, the discovery sends shockwaves through the U.S. Army. Her body, naked and bound, points to a crime far more complex than a simple act of violence. Elite Army CID investigator Paul Brenner, known for his sharp wit and cynical charm, is assigned the politically charged case. He is reluctantly partnered with rape specialist Warrant Officer Cynthia Sunhill, a former flame whose direct and principled approach often clashes with his own. As they delve into the seemingly impenetrable world of military secrecy and honor, Brenner and Sunhill uncover a labyrinth of cover-ups, corruption, and a shocking secret life led by the "golden girl" captain. The investigation forces them to confront deeply ingrained military codes, exposing the dark underbelly of power and privilege within the armed forces, where loyalty can be bought and truth is a dangerous commodity. Their pursuit of justice not only threatens to unravel a prestigious military career but also puts their own lives at grave risk.
