Synopsis

The fate of the Four Lands hangs precariously in the balance as its rightful High Druid, Grianne Ohmsford, is deceitfully banished to the nightmarish realm of the Forbidding by a conniving fellow Druid. The sole glimmer of hope for her salvation lies with her courageous nephew, Pen Ohmsford, yet he and his entire family—his parents included—find themselves under relentless siege. A renegade faction of the Druid Council is relentlessly hunting them, determined to extinguish any spark of magic that could facilitate Grianne's return and solidify their usurped power. Yet, a far more insidious threat has emerged. The very act of Grianne's banishment inadvertently tore a rift between worlds, allowing a monstrous denizen of the Forbidding to infiltrate the Four Lands. This fearsome entity, capable of shapeshifting and killing at will, poses an immediate and horrifying danger. Worse still, it is merely the vanguard of a much greater, cataclysmic invasion looming on the horizon, threatening to plunge the entire world into an inescapable darkness. Pen must navigate this treacherous landscape, fighting not just for his family but for the very soul of his world, before it's too late.
