Synopsis

In a city on the brink of civil war, the fiercely independent Nadia and the gentle Saeed embark on a clandestine love affair. As their world descends into chaos, marked by checkpoints and bomb blasts, their burgeoning intimacy is forced into the premature confines of constant danger. Whispers begin to circulate about mysterious doors that can transport people to other lands, albeit perilously and for a price. Faced with escalating violence, Nadia and Saeed make the agonizing decision to leave everything they know behind. They step through one such door, emerging into an uncertain future as refugees. The novel intimately chronicles their arduous journey through various new lands, their struggle to maintain their love and identity amidst displacement, and the profound challenges of adapting to alien environments while holding onto fragments of their past. It is a deeply human and powerfully imaginative exploration of migration, love, and resilience in a world reshaped by crisis.
